A Tale for... Thursday? Jack

Image
This should have been up on Tuesday, but one thing led to another and, well, it wasn't. By the way, does anyone know how to schedule posts on blogger? I've tried to schedule posts three times and each time it's gone rather badly. :P So any and all help would be appreciated! Anyhow, today I have a review of Jack, a new release by Chautona Havig! :D Description: A lot of hullabaloo on the prairie. Jack Clausen has led a hard, lonely life, but he’s content with a good job as a cowboy, a faithful horse, and the Lord. But when a near tragedy flings him into the path of a lovely young lady, Jack’s resolve to stay single and alone wavers. Hazel Meissner has everything a young man could hope for–kindness, gentleness, and just enough playfulness to keep things interesting, but when accusations tear at their relationship, Hazel’s true strength emerges. Without forgiveness, many lives will be irrevocably changed. Jack is the first book in the Ballads from the He...

A Tale for Tuesday - Carol and the Belles

Image
Howdy all! I'm back with another Tale for Tuesday- this one a new Christmas release by Chautona Havig! (It's also International Ilyon day today, but I'll be putting my post up tomorrow.) Disclaimer: I received a free copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, which I have given. Carol and the Belles is a sweet Christmas story. Penpals since grade school (for 25 years), Carol and Michal finally get the chance to meet when Carol travels to the U.S. However, when they meet in person, they find out that neither is what the other was expecting. What I liked: I loved the language. The descriptions of things, and a lot of Carol's insights were really beautifully phrased. There are several quotes in particular where I had to read and sigh over them several times because they were just perfect. The humor. I liked the witty interactions between different people: Michal and Micaiah, Carol and Michal's friends (the "belles") :) The character...

A Tale for Tuesday - Implant

Image
Hey all! *waves* Today marks the start of a new feature here at the Aerie- A Tale for Tuesday! (Virtual cookies to anyone who can tell me the children's book that inspired the title ;) ) Also, be on the lookout for a blog design change here soon. I'm super excited- now let's see if I can pull it all together the way I want :) And now, I have a review of the fantastic book Implant , by J. Grace Pennington !   Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for free from the author in exchange for my honest review, which I have given.  This. Book. Is. Amazing. Seriously. A. Maz. Ing. Like, read in an afternoon, cannot put it down amazing. I was a little nervous, having never read any of this author's books before, though several were on my TBR list. I'll be remedying that now that I've read Implant. :) It's set in a not too distant future, and revolves around the idea of an implant that effectively eliminates disease and illness- but is abl...

The Crossways Blog Tour- Author Interview!

Image
Hey All! :) I'm back for another post as part of The Crossways blog tour! Today I have an interview with Morgan Elizabeth Huneke, the author of the Time Captives series. Also, the giveaway is still open, so be sure to enter at the bottom to win a copy of the book! :) If you could have any superpower, what would it be?  Hmm. That’s a tough one. I’d kind of like to be able to read minds because I’m dying to know what my dog dreams about when she’s wagging her tail in her sleep or twitching her feet like she’s running. I think, though, I’d like super speed. There’s so much more I could do and so many places I could go if only I could super speed there. Think about it, I could super speed to Disney World, skipping the eight hour drive and the cost of gas. And I could always be first in line for Soarin’ and Toy Story Mania. That would really be cool. Aside from that, it would be really useful. I’d never be late. What is your favorite color and why? My favorite color is purple a...

The Crossways Book Review!

Image
Hey All! So it's Tuesday, and today I'm participating in Morgan Elizabeth Huneke's blog tour for her new book, The Crossways . Today's my day to post my review of the book, and my younger brother Ezra is back to share his thoughts as well! :D Be sure to enter the giveaway (for a free copy of the book), and check out the other lovely blogs on the tour! Also check back here on Wednesday and Friday, as I'll have interviews with Morgan and her character Adriel! Now, before we get to the reviews, a little about the book and the author: About the Book “M’lady, it has been fairly well confirmed that the Redona was hidden away by the merfolk at the conclusion of the Great War instead of destroyed as was commanded. My brother has confirmed to me Joseph’s belief that it was concealed at the Crossways.” Toarna pressed her fingertips together in thought. “It must be recovered and destroyed as was at first intended.” Emily, Allan, Jill, and Joey have ...

Book Review(s): Water Princess, Fire Prince

Image
Well, here it is: the last day of the Water Princess, Fire Prince blog tour. Today I have not one, but two reviews of Water Princess, Fire Prince for you- mine, and my younger brother Ezra's. He's nine, and this is his first real review. It took several tries, but I finally suggested that he just write it like he was telling a friend of his about the book. Hence all the exclamation points. :o) But first, how about one last snippet from the book itself?      With that thought, she turned to the Fire Prince with the exclamation, “Movie magic, I love it.”      He turned towards her with a confused expression on his face. “Movie magic?”      She pointed towards the chasm. “Don’t you just love movie magic?”      He got the joke this time and chuckled. “Water Princess, this isn’t a movie,” he pointed out. He sighed. “It’s real life. Our life.”      “Oh.” She let the silence sit for ...
