Greetings, all!      Well, it's July! No school, lots of summer heat, and lots of writing.      Remember my goal of 50,000 words for Camp NaNoWriMo? Well, I've dropped it down to 35,000 because 50k just isn't possible without sacrificing everything else this month. But the good news is that Ransom is, slowly but surely, getting done! :) 4889 words and counting....      (Trivia fact, Ransom is the first of my books to have a cover beyond doodles on a piece of paper)      And today I have an excerpt from Ransom for you... just cuz. :)      Enjoy!      Lucas rattled the manacles on his wrists, searching for any weaknesses in the metal- weaknesses which he could exploit in order to escape. Though, he cast a wry look at the cell door, he’d have to get free of more than the manacles for an escape to be successful.      He sighed, wrapped his arms around his knees and leaned his head against his arms.      Soft footsteps echoed through the dungeon, accompanied by t

June Character Encounter: Skylar

Hello everyone! Today I've got another Character Encounter for you, featuring the main female character in Ransom, the book I'll be writing for Camp NaNoWriMo. Character Encounters are hosted by Kendra E. Ardnek on her blog, knittedbygodsplan.blogspot.com , where she gives us a location and we're supposed to encounter one of our characters there. My brother is inside with Gramps and my dad, we had to drop off the car so it could get fixed. While they're in there discussing stuff, I went outside to work on my book.       I hear a startled gasp behind me, and I slowly turn around. “Hello?”      A blonde girl, dressed

Camp NaNoWriMo

I think the title sort of says it all. I, the major procrastinator, the one who has never finished (key word "finished") a story longer than 5 1/2 pages, am going to do Camp NaNoWriMo . I'm shooting for 50,000 words on my fantasy novel Ransom (that WIP page is coming soon, I promise :). According to the the Camp NaNoWriMo website, I'll have to consistently write 1,613 words a day to reach my goal. Easy, right? *crickets* Well, at least doable? I hope so. Guess we'll find out in 3 days :) What do you think? Is anyone else doing Camp NaNoWriMo?
