The Crossways Blog Tour - Character Interview

Image
Hello everyone! I'm back with another post in The Crossways blog tour! I got to interview Adriel (one of the main characters) and today I get to share that interview with you! :) The giveaway for a copy of the book is still open, and as  always, be sure to check out the other blogs on the tour!  Welcome to the blog, Adriel! Let's start with (what I hope is) an easy question, if not a bit random sounding:  How do you feel about dragons? *raises eyebrows* Dragons? They’re just like any other animal, I guess. I don’t really like animals.  People keep them as pets, but I don’t see why. They’re big and troublesome.  They use them in the Arena too, so they can’t all be nice. Besides Rae, who do you feel the closest to? My older sister ,  Ariela. I haven’t seen her in four years, thanks to the  horrible strytes who sold her away, but we got along pretty well. She’s older, so she did try to tell me what to do, but it wasn’t in a bossy, controlling way like our oldest

October CE - Alishna

Howdy all! (Yes, howdy. I blame the Veggietales silly song my brother is watching.) So it's been a while since I've done a Character Encounter, but I have one for today! For the record, the character I encountered today didn't exist at all, (not even as a tiny little plot bunny) until I saw this month's prompt. I'm pretty sure that's not the way it's supposed to work, but... *shrugs* Oh well. She's really very interesting, from what she's told me about herself, and I'm considering her story as an option for NaNo this year. Fun fact: this is the first Character Encounter that I haven't completely written/rewritten twice. Now for all of you who maybe have no idea what I'm talking about, Character Encounters is a monthly link up hosted by Kendra on her blog Knitted by God's Plan . She gives us a prompt, and we encounter one of our characters at that location. This month the location was "The Road", and I chose to interpr

June Character Encounter: Skylar

Hello everyone! Today I've got another Character Encounter for you, featuring the main female character in Ransom, the book I'll be writing for Camp NaNoWriMo. Character Encounters are hosted by Kendra E. Ardnek on her blog, knittedbygodsplan.blogspot.com , where she gives us a location and we're supposed to encounter one of our characters there. This month's location was a car dealership, or an auto repair shop. (I chose the latter.) Skylar, though her eyes are green. (picture found on pinterest)       So they're on the ship... and she's standing at the bow... and he's... I pace, turning the scene over and over in my head, mumbling about what should happen next. My brother is inside with Gramps and my dad, we had to drop off the car so it could get fixed. While they're in there discussing stuff, I went outside to work on my book.       I hear a startled gasp behind me, and I slowly turn around. “Hello?”      A blonde girl, dressed

Character Encounter: Jessica

Hello everyone! I've got another Character Encounter today! :D For the month of May, Kendra E. Ardnek, who hosts Character Encounters on her blog , decreed that we were to encounter our character at a Playground. This playground is a real place, it's made entirely out of wood and the time that we went there there weren't too many people. Jessica is a character from my series which I'm tentatively calling "Peacekeepers" but I've also referred to as "Wanderer series". Book one, Chronicler, is from her POV. I found the picture of Jessica on Pinterest. Enjoy! Jessica      I'm stuck. I hate it when I know where I want the story to go, but I don't know how to get it there. I heave a deep, dramatic sigh and glare at a tree on the other side of the playground. Then I blink. Is someone hiding over there?      My writer's brain kicks in, though the last thing I need is yet another new story to work on. Even so, I jot a few notes d

Character Encounter: Lylia

Hello all! Today I'm participating in Kendra E. Ardnek 's Character Encounters . Once a month she gives a location, and you're supposed to encounter one of your characters there. This month we had to encounter our character in their own world.       Lylia is a character from a short story that I wrote for my English class (we had to write a story including 5 of our vocab words, I'll post it on here someday). I plan to write more about her and Nicholas, and writing this character encounter has given me some ideas, so you'll hopefully be seeing more of her soon! :o)       So here it is! My encounter with Lylia: “Begone monster!” I dart forward and slam my sword (aka big stick) against my foe (aka tree). Naturally, the tree doesn’t retaliate, but I duck and retreat all the same. It’s no use pretending to save the world if you don’t at least pretend your enemies are fighting back. Even if they are trees. I continue to swing my stick as I advance across t
